Why WindRise’s Winch System Could Be a Game-Changer for DJI Dock Operations

Highlight of the Shenzhen UAV Expo? Meeting the WindRise team and seeing their Dock winch technology up close.

While at the 2026 Shenzhen International UAV Expo, one of the standout moments was visiting Shenzhen WindRise Technology Co., Ltd (WindRise) at their office in the city.

WindRise is a young but very sharp company founded this year by ex-DJI engineers. Their focus is making enterprise drone workflows more powerful and flexible — and their Dock payload winch system is seriously impressive.

What makes their winch system special?

Their technology allows a DJI Dock to winch any compatible payload within the aircraft’s capacity. This turns a single dock into a highly versatile response platform instead of being limited to one fixed use case.

Some of the exciting possibilities this opens up:

  • AED (defibrillator) deployment for emergency medical response
  • Payload drops for targeted delivery in remote or disaster areas
  • Traffic response — dropping inflatable safety cones
  • Search & rescue — deploying inflatable life-saving gear or flotation devices

Imagine a dock on standby with six AEDs or flotation devices ready to go at a moment’s notice. At a base level, it means one dock can service diverse tasking while keeping flight time efficient and operational costs low.

We had the chance to meet Roc Wang (Founder) and Jony Ji (Co-founder) in person. Both are ex-DJI and excellent hosts. We got a tour of the office and assembly line — it was great to see the engineering and attention to detail firsthand.

This is going to be a key tool in a lot of systems moving forward. We’re excited to explore how WindRise’s winch integrations can complement our DJI Dock 3 solutions here in Australia.
