The viDoc light is a compact, streamlined GNSS-based measurement and documentation device that turns your compatible iPhone into a lightweight, high-accuracy surveying and field data tool. It's the more affordable, essential version in the viDoc lineup—ideal for professionals in construction, surveying, asset management, engineering, and site inspections who need reliable centimeter-level positioning without the extra features of higher-end models like the Model 24.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Centimeter-Level RTK Accuracy — Delivers precise positioning (typically 1–2 cm horizontal with RTK corrections), perfect for single-point measurements, stakeouts, distance/area calculations, and geo-tagged documentation.
  • Lightweight & Portable — Slim, pocket-friendly design makes it easy to carry on-site every day. Built for quick setup and use in Australian field conditions.
  • GNSS Flexibility — Supports multi-constellation RTK (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou) with NTRIP corrections or other services for fast fixes and reliable accuracy—even in semi-challenging environments.
  • Essential Documentation Tools — Capture geo-referenced points, photos, and notes for progress tracking, as-builts, volume estimates, inspections, and compliance reporting. Great for feeding data into photogrammetry or 3D modeling workflows.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Choosing & buying

viDoc light or Model 24 — which one do we actually need?
Both models share the same RTK core and Scin app — the difference is measurement reach. viDoc light covers daily RTK points, geo-tagged photos, stakeout and area or distance measurement: the right pick for GCP collection and lightweight field documentation. Model 24 adds the Multi-Measurement Tool with front and ground lasers for offset shots and as-built checks from a safe standoff. Choose light when point-and-photo workflow is the job; choose Model 24 when standoff laser measurement is weekly, not occasional.
viDoc costs similar to an S20 RTK — aren't they the same thing?
Different job entirely — on both viDoc models. viDoc captures discrete georeferenced points and photos from a pocket RTK rover clipped to your iPhone: stakeout, GCPs, progress documentation. The S20 RTK is walk-and-scan SLAM that produces a continuous interior or corridor point cloud. If they describe plant rooms, tunnels or 3D scan deliverables, steer to S20. If they need control shots and geo-tagged field docs without mobilising a scanner, either viDoc model is the conversation.
What's included in a Mirrormapper viDoc deploy versus buying the unit elsewhere?
Genuine AU stock — light or Model 24 — with AUSCORS NTRIP configured on your account, Scin app walkthrough during hands-on handover from our Melbourne team, and clarity on the yearly Scin licence before you activate. You get a 12-month warranty backed by Australian Consumer Law and local repair from the same engineers who set up your first job. Our pitch is a working RTK workflow on your phone, not just the case in a box.
Do I need a compatible iPhone before I can quote or demo?
Yes — both viDoc light and Model 24 are case-specific to iPhone Pro models from 13 Pro through 16 Pro Max, not Android. Confirm your phone model before we quote the case variant. For a demo, bring your iPhone and a site you're working — we'll configure NTRIP and shoot real points so you judge accuracy and workflow before you buy. If you're on an incompatible phone, we'll tell you upfront rather than sell hardware that won't mount.

Accuracy & performance

How accurate are viDoc light and Model 24 with AUSCORS NTRIP?
Both models deliver the same RTK positioning performance: typically 1–2 cm horizontal with a stable fix; 1 cm + 1 ppm is quoted on our collection page under RTK Fix conditions. That's positioning accuracy — not the same as a full survey network adjustment on a cadastral job. We configure AUSCORS at handover and recommend check shots against known control on your first real job. Multi-constellation GNSS supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou on either unit.
Do we need the performance GNSS antenna on light or Model 24?
Standard GNSS on either model performs well in open sky with AUSCORS NTRIP. The performance antenna option helps in urban canyons, under moderate tree cover or when you're fighting multipath on industrial sites. If your typical work is open construction pads or rural GCP placement, start with the standard antenna. If you're routinely under cover or between buildings, spec the performance antenna during the quote — it fits both viDoc light and Model 24.
We already run a dedicated RTK rover — why would we add viDoc?
viDoc wins on portability and pocket deploy on either model — every site manager already carries a phone, and GCP collection no longer needs a second vehicle of survey gear. A dedicated rover still wins for all-day pole work at scale and formal cadastral workflows. Be honest about which tier fits: viDoc light or Model 24 is the daily documentation and control layer, not a replacement for a production survey crew on boundary work.

Workflow & integration

Can viDoc replace our GCP workflow for drone mapping?
For many RTK drone jobs, yes — on both models. viDoc places and verifies control with AUSCORS NTRIP on the same correction network as your aircraft workflow, reducing GCP count when the drone already runs RTK Fix. Target plates are available in accessories for photogrammetry marks. RTK on the drone gets you most of the way; viDoc is how you place check shots without mobilising a full rover crew.
Does viDoc data land in the same frame as our Matrice and handheld scans?
Yes — georeferenced points and photos from viDoc light or Model 24 share the same AUSCORS-based coordinate frame as M4E orthos, L3 LiDAR and S20 interior scans when workflows are configured consistently. That lets you tie ground control, progress photos and aerial deliverables into one project without reprojection guesswork. We align export settings during handover to your GIS or CAD environment.
What does Model 24 add over viDoc light for field measurement?
The Multi-Measurement Tool on Model 24 adds front and ground lasers for offset measurements and as-built checks from a standoff — useful when a hazard zone, traffic lane or facade line sits between you and the point you need. viDoc light still handles stakeout, GCPs, area and distance in Scin without lasers. If your weekly work is single-point documentation only, light is enough; spec Model 24 when standoff laser measurement is part of the invoiced deliverable.
Is the Scin app licence included with viDoc light or Model 24 hardware?
No — the yearly Scin software licence is sold separately from either viDoc hardware model. We confirm licence scope and activation during handover so there are no surprises on first use. Scin is where you capture points, photos, distances and areas on both models, and manage export. We walk through your typical workflow on your phone before you leave Melbourne.

Support

What warranty and support do I get on viDoc light or Model 24?
A 12-month warranty backed by Australian Consumer Law, with support from our Melbourne team — phone, email, and the same engineers who configured AUSCORS and walked you through Scin. Training is bundled in Melbourne; other major Australian cities are available for an additional fee. Local repair means you're not shipping a phone accessory overseas mid-project.
What happens if NTRIP drops out or Scin misbehaves on site?
Call us — Melbourne routes to the same engineers who did your handover, whether you're on light or Model 24. Most NTRIP and Scin issues we resolve live on the phone while you're still on site. If hardware fails under warranty, we repair locally. If your field crew changes, repeat the training session — we'd rather you ask twice than guess coordinates on a paid job.
Can you integrate viDoc capture into our asset platform or CMMS?
Standard deploy on either model includes export from Scin into your existing GIS or documentation stack. Deeper integration into asset platforms, CMMS or automated reporting pipelines is scoped separately once we've seen your API and data flows. Talk to an engineer about the deliverable — geo-tagged inspection photos with coordinates often satisfy the requirement without a custom build.
