What it does
The DJI AP1 Parachute fits Matrice 4D, 4TD and 5TD. On Matrice 5TD it takes the top mount. It deploys automatically when the aircraft or parachute sensors detect abnormal attitude or speed, or manually from FlightHub 2.
The flight termination system stops the motors and fires the parachute within 600 ms of an automatic trigger, slowing descent to under 6 m/s, with a flashing beacon and buzzer to warn people below.
It weighs 107 g, deploys from 35 m above ground and meets MoC 2512 for M2 mitigation. Get a quote from Mirrormapper for pricing and availability.

FAQ
Which aircraft does the AP1 fit?
Matrice 4D, 4TD and 5TD. On Matrice 5TD it always takes the top mount and connects to the aircraft's high-speed USB-C port.
What triggers the parachute?
Automatic deployment when the aircraft or parachute sensors detect abnormal attitude or speed, or a manual trigger in FlightHub 2. The flight termination system stops the motors and the parachute opens, with a flashing beacon and buzzer to warn people below.
What is the minimum deployment height?
35 m above ground, the height it needs to slow descent below 6 m/s. Below 35 m it still ejects but may not fully inflate.
Which standards does it meet?
MoC 2512 for EASA's M2 medium-robustness mitigation. It is validated to ASTM F3322 through more than 45 deployment tests, in hover and at full speed.
Does it need servicing?
Yes, a check every six months covering the connectors, the parachute indicator and the protective cover. It is single-use, so the whole unit is replaced after a deployment, and it should be retired three years after activation, even if its self-tests pass.
