FAQ

Questions, answered

Choosing & buying

Should I buy the Dock 3 with the Matrice 4D or the 4TD?
Choose by the job. The Matrice 4D carries triple 48 MP cameras (wide, medium tele, tele) and a laser rangefinder — built for high-precision mapping and detailed visual inspection. The 4TD adds a 640 x 512 thermal camera, 28x zoom and an NIR auxiliary light, so it suits night work, emergency response, public safety and infrastructure heat surveys. If your deliverables are maps and survey detail, go 4D; if you need to see heat or operate after dark, go 4TD.
Do I buy the dock on its own, or one of your ready-built systems?
Both paths exist. The dock alone is the lowest-cost entry — you add the aircraft, payloads and connectivity yourself. Our pre-configured systems bundle the right airframe and accessories for a use case: an Autonomous Survey System, an Autonomous Thermal Surveillance System, and an Automated Emergency Response System. Buy a bundle when you want it scoped and supported as one package; buy the dock alone if you already own compatible Matrice 4 hardware. We'll quote either against your requirements.
What does the dock price actually include?
The dock price is for the Dock 3 hangar by itself. A working operation also needs a Matrice 4D or 4TD aircraft, FlightHub 2 for mission control, and site connectivity — plus a D-RTK 3 Relay if your terrain needs extended signal. Complete systems are priced by configuration, so we quote the full build rather than a single line item. Tell us the site and the mission and we'll come back with pricing on the whole package, not just the box.
Can I save money importing a Dock 3 from overseas?
Rarely, once you add it up. Enterprise docks ship through authorised partners, not a cheaper DJI direct store, so an import means currency conversion, freight and import GST land you near the local price anyway — then arrives with no Australian warranty, no install, no CASA deployment advice and no on-shore support. Our price is genuine AU stock with a Melbourne team that scopes the site, commissions the dock and is there when it stops mid-mission. *(Verify there is no lower overseas direct channel before publishing.)*
Are setup and training included?
Yes, from Melbourne. Every system includes a site survey, physical install, AUSCORS NTRIP wiring, FlightHub 2 configuration and hands-on operator training from our Melbourne team. Training is available in other major Australian cities for an additional fee. Because dock commissioning is site-specific, we scope it with you before delivery rather than shipping a box and leaving you to it.

Performance & in the field

How quickly does it launch, and in what conditions can it run?
Ten seconds from command to airborne, around the clock. The dock is IP56-rated and operates from -30 °C to 50 °C; the Matrice 4D/4TD aircraft are IP55, so they handle light rain and dust that ground most drones. As with all aircraft, sustained high wind, heavy precipitation or icing will suspend automated flights — the dock holds the drone safe until conditions clear.
What happens to the drone if site power fails mid-operation?
It comes home safely. The Dock 3 has an internal backup battery that supplies roughly 5 hours of emergency power — enough to recover an airborne drone, land it and close the dock during a mains outage. It is sized for safe return-to-base, not for running extended missions off-grid, so for remote sites we'll spec mains plus a backup supply during the site survey.
How far from the dock can the drone actually operate?
Far enough for site-wide coverage, with the usual caveat that range depends on line of sight and terrain. DJI quotes ultra-long transmission, and FlyTo tasks can reach a point 1 km out at 100 m height in about 100 seconds. For hilly or built-up sites, mounting a D-RTK 3 Relay at an elevated point restores signal and lets you place the dock more flexibly. We model coverage against your site map before install.
How do I plan and run missions when no one's on site?
Through DJI FlightHub 2. You schedule recurring routes or launch on demand, watch the live stream, and manage captured data from anywhere with a connection — the drone flies, returns, charges and uploads on its own. The DJI Enterprise app lets you complete deployment from a smartphone. We configure FlightHub 2 to your routes and notifications during commissioning.
Can the dock be mounted on a vehicle?
Yes — Dock 3 is the first DJI dock built for vehicle mounting, so one system can cover a mine one day and a substation the next. A vehicle-mounted gimbal mount isolates the dock from transport vibration and impact with IP55 protection. It's the same unit you'd fix to the ground, redeployed for rapid dispatch and long-distance inspection runs.
What does my site need to host a dock?
Four things: a stable mounting surface, mains power (100-240 V AC, drawing up to 800 W during charging), reliable internet for FlightHub 2 (cellular, Starlink or fibre), and clear launch and recovery airspace overhead. We run a site survey first to confirm power, connectivity and signal coverage, then commission the dock to suit — so you know it'll work before it's bolted down.

Compliance

Do I need CASA approval to run an automated dock?
Yes — the dock doesn't remove the regulatory requirements. Remote and automated operations, and especially beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), require the right CASA approvals: an operator's certificate (ReOC), licensed remote pilots (RePL) and an operational approval for the way you intend to fly. We provide CASA-aware deployment guidance and help you scope that pathway, but CASA grants the approvals, not us. Build the approval timeline into your rollout, not after the hardware lands.
Can you help us set up BVLOS operations?
Yes — we help you build the BVLOS case around your specific site and operation. That means working through the concept of operations, the inputs your risk assessment needs, and the equipment and procedures your safety case relies on, alongside your RePL and ReOC holder. Approval is always site- and operation-specific and granted by CASA, so we scope and support the pathway rather than promising an outcome. *(Verify exact scope of BVLOS support services offered before publishing.)*
Does the dock have detect-and-avoid for flying BVLOS?
Not certified detect-and-avoid — and it's important to be precise here. Onboard sensing and ADS-B provide traffic awareness and data to support your safety case, not an automated detect-and-avoid system. Separation from other aircraft in a BVLOS operation is managed through your approved concept of operations — segregated airspace, observers, procedures and that traffic awareness. We help you assemble those elements; we don't claim the hardware replaces them.

Support

What warranty and support do I get?
A 12-month warranty backed by Australian Consumer Law, with support from the Melbourne team — phone, email, and the same engineers who installed and handed over your system. DJI Care Enterprise and DJI Enterprise Maintenance are available for extended cover and scheduled servicing. Because docks run unattended, we'd rather diagnose a fault remotely with you than have you ship a 55 kg unit overseas.

Autonomous flights, not autonomous procurement

Site survey, install, commissioning, FlightHub 2, and operator training. We deploy the dock, not just ship the box.
